Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapists work to provide you with the skills for the job of living – the skills necessary to function in your community or in your home. These skills will provide you with the safety and independence needed to achieve the quality of life you desire. They include activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and home maintenance.

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people of any age to improve their functional independence while preventing or minimizing disability.

How Can I Receive Occupational Therapy?

In order to receive Occupational Therapy at one of our outpatient locations, in your home or location at an area assisted living facility, you will need a referral from your physician. Your physician or primary care provider can help determine which therapy approach would best meet your needs. Remember, you have a choice when it comes to deciding which therapy provider will care for you.

After that, an Occupational Therapist will evaluate your individual needs and develop a treatment plan that addresses your specific challenges. You and your Occupational Therapist will work toward the goals that are important to you.
